Activities & Groups

There are various groups in North West England which provide opportunities for learning and participation in folk music. Here you can find information about some of them.

Orchestra in Folkus

Our Orchestra in Folkus was established in 2016. Until this autumn, it was led by band leader Sian Phillips, with monthly rehearsals in Garstang library and performances at the Garstang Arts & Music Festival, the Garstang Memory Cafe and local ceilidhs.

More recently, the orchestra ran online Zoom workshops over the summer of 2021 with help from tutors Andy Hornby of Northern Frisk and Carolyn Francis of the Lakeland Fiddlers.

Folkus wholeheartedly thanks Sian for her support in setting up and running the orchestra over the years.

We are currently exploring the possibility of running a series of hybrid "Room & Zoom" workshops - watch our

News page or Facebook page for announcements...
